Yad Vashem
If you are in need of a humbling experience, visit Yad Vashem. Yad Vashem is the holocaust museum of Jerusalem. Inside are many thought provoking, tear-jerking, incredibly humbling stories of human fortitude seen in the midst of human monstrosity. I found it difficult at times to see and hear stories of the holocaust but found the acts of love and bravery of many men, women, and children inspiring and even life-changing.
Yad Vashem means “A Place and a Name.” It comes from a scripture found in Isaiah 56:5 that reads: “Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.” I find this scripture and the name of this memorial dedicated to the victims and heroes during the holocaust deserving and well selected. |
